Probate Brief Advice Phone Clinic- Minnesota State Law Library

This is a brief advice clinic for people who are seeking information about probate topics in Minnesota. This clinic is a joint initiative of the Probate, Trusts, and Estates Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association and the Minnesota State Law Library. Clinic attorneys are volunteers and are not endorsed or approved by the Minnesota Judicial Branch.

This free brief advice clinic is held once per month on the 1st Thursday of the month from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Currently, this clinic is a telephone clinic only. The phone clinic involves a 30-minute consultation with an attorney over the phone.

Topic covered include the necessity of probate, serving as personal representative, decedents’ debts, dividing assets, and probate procedures. The clinic does not help with complex probate issues (including litigation), questions about the law in other states, guardianship/conservatorship, medical assistance, or tax questions.
